Hello everyone! I have returned! This is a movie that I and I'm sure all Simpson fans have been waiting for 10+ years. Just when you think The Simpsons have run out of plots, they come up with a doozy. The vast cast of Springfield regulars show up in this fantastic ride of epic proportions. The city of Springfield orders a clean up of the polluted Lake Springfield and bans dumping waste. Just as the town is getting their lake back, Homer Simpson decides to dump hazardous waste created by his pet pig and himself (eww!). He inadvertently dooms Springfield and the Federal Government steps in to help combat Springfield's environmental problem by placing a Bio-Dome over the town sealing it off from the rest of America. It is now up to Homer to find a way to free Springfield and redeem himself.
What Worked: Matt Groening was a genius for re-hiring some former writers of The Simpsons to help work on the script for this film. It was a film plot, not a TV show plot (Ex. The Family Guy Direct to DVD Disaster Stewie Griffin the Untold Story was basically 3 episodes woven together). This plot works and keeps everyone young and old interested in the movie through out the perfect running time of 97 minutes. The animation is top notch quality and is even better than the TV show's quality. It has some parts that make you laugh non stop. Green Day and Tom Hanks are hysterical. Homer Simpson is the king of animated comedy!
What Didn't Work: Surprisingly, this movie had very few flaws in it. The only thing I did not like is the short parts trying to cram in all of the characters of Springfield. I'm sure that there will be a few more movies to follow to fit them in since this movie has already made over $100 million dollars and is on its way to make $200 Million easily.
Bottom Line: Whether you are a Simpsons fan or not, you will be highly entertained by this non-stop laugh fest. The movie's plot is easy for everyone to follow.
Oscar Buzz: I smell a Best Animated Movie Oscar nomination in this film's future...or is that Homer's Pig crap?
